About

Who Am I?

For most of my adult life, I have been passionate about helping others navigate their mental health challenges. I have always had an innate desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. Moving from Georgia to Washington State in 1993, has been filled with experiences that have allowed me to fulfill that desire to help people as a Mental Health Therapist. Over the years, I have honed my skills in various therapeutic techniques and modalities, recognizing their importance in addressing the diverse needs of my clients. Developing the foundation of any successful therapy lay in the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. This is where trust and respect begin. Regarding specialty areas, I have been a certified trauma specialist for many years. I also work with depression, social anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, and generalized anxiety disorder. I work with BiPolar Disorder and collaborate with specialists who will help with treatment. I enjoy working with parents who need guidance with children with ADHD as well as challenging behaviors. As a therapist, you will find that I am direct, confident and respectful. I will share with you aspects of my experiences and I will talk with you, not at you. Therapy takes time and it is not a quick fix. Sometimes it can be hard and you may think it is not working. With pain comes healing and while that is not always the case, it is important to remember. Here is my perspective on life: I believe that contentment is a very important goal. When you are content with your life, the happy moments will be better and the bad moments will be easier to deal with. The desire to be happy is a nice idea; just not feasible all the time. Contentment is feasible. Personally, I like swimming, horses, bike riding, yoga, reading and yes, scrolling on my phone playing games. You may have heard that in life, balance is key to living your life to its fullest. I will agree and I would add that positive mental health is not just key to living life to its fullest, but crucial. Finally, you should know that I have a therapy bird named Buddy. He loves people and plays on his perch. He is 18 years old! I would love to meet you and see if we would be a good fit to work together to determine your goals, and move forward to what will help you be content with your life.
